LMPST Taiwan Annual Conference 2024 Call for Papers

I. Introduction

 

1. The Taiwan Association for Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science and Technology (LMPST Taiwan) is the local Taiwan chapter of the Division of Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science and Technology (DLMPST) of the International Union of History and Philosophy of Science and Technology (IUHPST): https://www.lmpsttw.org/en/home

2. The association’s mission is to stimulate LMPST-related research, namely areas that fit the general label of ‘scientific philosophy’, including logic, philosophy of science, science and technology studies (STS), philosophy of social science, metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of mind, philosophy of language, and other fields of study.

3. This year, LMPST Taiwan will hold its annual conference on June 8th and 9th (Saturday and Sunday).

4. LMPST Taiwan invites philosophers to give professional academic talks, and also invites experts from various fields (scientists, humanities scholars, etc.) to share their perspectives, insights, ideas, or experiences in layman's language, with no specific format required.

5. This year's conference is bilingual and encourages English sessions to increase foreign and international participation.

6. This year’s conference will also feature a forum on AI research, inviting several experts to share their experiences and practical advice on philosophers and humanities scholars’ contributions to AI research. 

 

II. Venue and Date

 

Location: Institute of European and American Studies, Academia Sinica, Taipei

Date: June 8th and 9th, 2024 (Saturday and Sunday)

Submission Deadline: May 13th, 2024 (Monday), Taiwan time

V. Eligibility

 

(a) LMPST Taiwan’s members

(b) Non-members must submit a membership application form. The application form can be found on the association's website: https://www.lmpsttw.org/en/join-us . The association will review both the submission and membership application simultaneously. (Foreign speakers are exempt from the membership requirement.)

 

 

VI. Submission Guidelines

 

(a) Topics related to the aforementioned themes of the association are welcome for submission.

(b) The association accepts the following two types of submissions: (i) professional academic talks, (ii) experts from various fields (scientists, humanities scholars, etc.) sharing their perspectives, insights, ideas, or experiences in layman's language, with no specific format required.

(c) Submissions must be sent via the following Google form by May 13th, 2024, Taiwan time: https://forms.gle/9MCB9bUDdQvxXC9a9

(d) Abstracts should not exceed 500 characters in Chinese or 300 words in English.

(e) This year's conference is bilingual and encourages English sessions to increase foreign and international participation.

(f) If there are too many talks, some will be presented as poster sessions.

(g) The association will notify the review results by email in late May. If you have any special requirements, or need to know the results earlier to arrange international travel, please email talmpst@gmail.com

(h) The association reserves the right to make the final decision on whether a paper will be presented.
